A study by the New York State Department of Transportation will study the damage caused by the construction of the Cross Bronx Expressway in the 1950s.
"[In] the early 1950's...the Cross Bronx Expressway was...built, ripping through neighborhoods in the South Bronx and forcing more than 1,500 families to leave their homes... Now, the State Department of Transportation is putting the finishing touches on a multiyear study on how to undo some of the damage caused by the roadway and its counterpart, the Major Deegan Expressway."
