An Dallas Morning News editorial suggests DART spending should favor bus service over train service to make more efficient use of its funds.

Reacting to research on the equity of the Dallas Transit system, The Dallas Morning News editorial board argues that expansion to the light rail system will not do enough to serve its citizens. "What's needed at DART is a massive reorganization of its resources. Thomas has repeatedly promised that the agency will boost bus spending by $14 million and is adding more than 40 new coaches by 2019," according to the editorial. These new buses don't go far enough, the piece contends. "We already have the longest light-rail network in America. Why not hit the pause button on rail long enough to at least study what a 10-figure investment in buses over the next 30 or 35 years might look like?"
