Boulder Buying More Open Space

Boulder is expanding the portfolio of the city's Open Space and Mountain Parks.

Alex Burness reports that the city of Boulder is spending $2.7 million to expand its open space portfolio.

One is a 25-acre parcel currently owned by the Suitts family just east of the intersection of 55th Street and Baseline Road. "Twenty-two acres on the Suitts parcel are part of the South Boulder Creek floodplain, and the city’s interest in the purchase has mostly to do with a general desire to buy up the few properties in the floodplain that are still privately owned," reports Burness.

The second is adjacent to existing open space and near to the Bobolink Trail.

"Both sites sit near the city’s outskirts, and both have long been on city staff’s radar," according to Burness.
