What About the 218 Left Behind By Amazon?

Benjamin Schneider and Alastair Boone scoured the Internet for reactions from city officials in communities that were among the 218 cities that sent in proposals in the hopes of attracting Amazon's second headquarters but failed to move on to the list of 20 finalists.

According to the article, "boosters of these left-behind towns experienced the full spectrum of grief, from shock and denial to acceptance and hope." The article, whether in an act of sympathy or horror, documents the grief of local residents who expressed their feelings about the process online.

Councilmembers, reporters, gubernatorial candidates, bureaucrats, police officers, advocates, mayors, and citizens all get in on the act.
