Cascadia Rail Would Build High-Speed Rail for the Pacific Northwest

A proposal to connect Vancouver, Seattle, and Portland via high-speed rail service went public this month.

The Board of Cascadia Rail is proposing high-speed rail service between Vancouver, British Columbia; Seattle, Washington; and Portland, Oregon, connecting the largest cities of the Cascadia region.

Inspired by the rapid expansion of transit service in the Seattle area, the proposal suggests that high-speed rail will improve quality of life and be good for business, providing important infrastructure connecting the three metro areas that will be home to 13.5 million people by 2040.
