"Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s office is trying to insert language into this year’s budget that would give New York state expansive new powers to redevelop the area surrounding Penn Station," reports Dana Rubinstein and Jimmy Vielkind.

"The proposal would enable the Cuomo administration to condemn, acquire or transfer property in the area surrounding Penn Station, without any legislated state or city environmental review," add Rubinstein and Vielkind.

The sources for this news are two legislators and two anonymous sources briefed on the matter. Assemblymember Dick Gottfried and State Sen. Brad Hoylman are on the record in the article expressing their concerns about the potential that redevelopment powers could be granted to the governor.
