A new research institute in the University of Oregon's College of Design reflects the ongoing need to put planners and designers to work in delivering better public health outcomes.

The University of Oregon has announced a new Institute for Health in the Built Environment, focused on research and initiatives that "support a healthy, thriving community and planet."

The new Institute for Health in Built Environment will combine the expertise of three research centers located in the university's College of Design, the Energy Studies in Buildings Laboratory, the Biology and the Built Environment Center, and the Baker Lighting Lab. Associate Professor Kevin Van Den Wymelenberg, PhD, will serve as the institute's founding director.
