A plan to streamline approval of a wave of homeless facilities in the city of Los Angeles is running into an early snag with an emergency shelter proposed for a parking lot in the Koreatown neighborhood.

"A city plan announced last week to build an emergency homeless shelter in a Koreatown parking lot is already drawing criticism from some residents and business owners," reports Elijah Chiland.
The shelter is the first of 15 planned shelters proposed by Mayor Eric Garcetti last month. "Those shelters, part of an initiative the mayor calls 'A Bridge Home,' would provide temporary dwelling space for some of the roughly 25,000 people living on city streets and sidewalks," according to Chiland. Thanks to a new state law,
The proposal sparked a small protest at a bust transit hub at Vermont and Wilshire over the weekend. A Facebook group called "No Shelter on 682Vermont" is circulating an online petition.
