Bus Service Expanded in Athens, Georgia

The 7 and 5 routes have been updated, and the 7 will see service hours extended.

Changes to routes 5 and 7 bus routes will mean more public transit coverage for Athens, Georgia. The updated routes began their new service July 1st."Because the two routes previously ran along the same paths in different directions, the hours of operation have been extended for route 7 to “…improve the level of service in this area,” according to the plan,"Kaley Lefevre reports for the Red and Black.

Transit Administration Director, Butch McDuffie, sought public comment and argues, “The changes will incorporate around two miles of new service, routing to areas that have not benefited from public transportation in quite some time," Lefevre writes.
