Mexico-Queretaro train project was halted in 2015 as part of PRI budget cuts, but the incoming administration says they're interested in restarting the project.
A 3.75 billion dollar train project from Mexico City to Queretaro, put on hold by Peña Nieto administration, may be back on with the election of Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador (AMLO). Javier Jiménez Espriú Jimenez, AMLO's incoming transportation secretary, said the line could serve as part of an expansive new national rail network.
"Javier Jiménez Espriú told the newspaper El Financiero that the transportation plan also includes building a new railroad between Cancún and Palenque, modernizing the existing line between Coatzacoalcos and Salina Cruz and starting the construction of Guadalajara-Tijuana and Querétaro-Nuevo Laredo routes," writes Mexico News Daily.
Beyond railroads, the administration also hopes to expand access to broadband internet, add paved roads in 250 cities, and modernize several of the country's airports.
