Dallas is experiencing a hotel building boom.

"The Dallas-area had the second highest total of new hotel projects in the pipeline at midyear," reports Steve Brown. "Only New York City had more new hotels in the works."
"Dallas has a total of 156 hotel projects with 18,908 rooms in the construction pipeline or planned in the second quarter," adds Brown. If all these projects come to fruition, the city's hotel room supply will increase by 21 percent.
A new report by Lodging Econometrics produces the data for Brown's reporting.
