The planned Wind Catcher did not make it through the Texas Public Utility Commission.
"American Electric Power last week abandoned its plan to build the largest wind farm in the United States, a victim of a complex mix of political, regulatory and market challenges," reports Dan Gearino.
"The giant utility company gave up after the Texas Public Utility Commission rejected the 2,000 megawatt, $4.5 billion project known as Wind Catcher," adds Gearino.
Gearino adds details about the political opposition that doomed the project, largely funded by money from fossil fuel interests. Industry predicts the demise of the project will only mark a temporary setback for the wind industry.
