World's First Hydrogen Fuel Cell Trains Operating in Germany

Alstom's Cordia iLint trains, promised since 2014, are on the track.

The world's first hydrogen fuel cell train is operational in Germany, reports Agence France-Presse.

Two Cordia iLint trains, built by France-based Alstom, are now operational on a 62-mile route in northern Germany.

Alstom has plans to deliver 14 of the hydrogen fuel cell-powered trains by 2021. Alstom has been promoting their hydrogen train technology since 2014, with additional coverage in 2016.
