France Could Implement Congestion Charging in Several Large Cities

France is considering a congestion charge for several of its largest cities, modeled after congestion charges in London, Singapore, and more.

"Car drivers would have to pay a €2.50 (£2.20) toll in cities with more than 100,000 people, and €5 in bigger cities like Marseille, Nice and Lyon," according to the BBC.

The action is proposed in a draft bill making its way through the national government, but already encountering opposition from local governments.

"The bill also plans to establish new low-emission areas around some 20 cities by 2020 to restrict or ban highly polluting vehicles," according to the article.
