1,000 Trips on 7 Subway Lines: How NYC Plans to Make Up for Loss of the L Train

The New York City Transit Authority has announced how it will compensate for the loss of the direct connection between Brooklyn and manhattan for 15 months starting in April.

"For straphangers wondering which subway lines will beef up service to carry runoff from the looming L train shutdown, New York City Transit has just provided a list," reports Matthew Flam.

Lines gaining more service to compensate for the close of the L Train include the 7, G, M, J, Z, E and F trains. "Altogether more than 1,000 round-trips will be added to those seven subway lines to try to accommodate some of the 225,000 commuters who currently ride the L train back and forth between Brooklyn and Manhattan," according to Flam, who also shares more details on how many additional trips wil be added to each of those lines.

The 7 train has been shut down on weekends recently to prepare for the upcoming increases in daily trips.
