Local and state governments could soon automate some land-use functions with a new software product from Oracle, Ben Miller reports in Government Technology.
Oracle's Public Sector Community Development product will use machine learning, chatbots, and other mobile technologies to manage core local government functions, beginning with community development issues like land use management, zoning, and code enforcement. It will eventually expand to include business and professional licensing.
Similar systems are available from companies like Tyler Technologies and Accela, but Oracle is targeting its product to small governments with low IT budgets, Miller reports.
