The Atlanta Regional Commission recently released the results of its "Metro Atlanta Speaks" public opinion survey last week.

David Wickert reveals the findings of a recent survey conducted by the Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC) gauging the public's support for public transit.
"An overwhelming majority of metro Atlanta residents say public transportation is very important to the region’s future, and half say they’re willing to pay higher taxes to expand it," according to Wickert. The survey "also found nearly half of residents believe transit is the best way to address the region’s traffic problems."
According to Wickert, the survey could help build momentum for transit expansion plans around the region. Transit expansion momentum is building in Atlanta, Gwinnett County, DeKalb County (in more ways than one), Clayton County, Cobb County, and Fulton County.
In a separate article, Wickert follows up with more detail and infographics on the survey results.
