A new report details the state of the mobile food vending industry and makes predictions for the short-term future.

Rachel Kaufman shares news of the most recent Mobile Food Trends Report, which predicts the mobile food vending industry will grow by 20 percent in 2019. Already the industry totals $800 million in activity.
The report, completed by San Francisco-based consultants Off the Grid, also calculates key demographic characteristics of the industry by surveying the 300 vendors the company works with to organize food truck gatherings. Kaufman explains:
The company surveyed its food providers and found that of the entrepreneurs it works with, 30 percent are immigrant-owned, and an equal number are woman-owned. Another 8 percent are owned by members of the LGBTQ community and 2 percent are owned by veterans.
