Stakeholders in Cincinnati have begun the process of drafting a citywide blueprint to tackle its shortage of affordable housing. The process is just getting started, but the need is already immense.

Lucy May reports on efforts in Cincinnati to address the regional shortage of affordable housing.
"Hamilton County needs roughly 40,000 more units of affordable housing than it currently has, and U.S. Census Bureau figures estimate the county has 48,000 vacant housing units," reports May.
The city of Cincinnati is responding to the shortage by undertaking a citywide housing strategy. A group of local organizations, officials, and experts, held the first meeting about the process on February 8. The new activity follows shortly after the Cincinnati City Council set up an Affordable Housing Trust Fund in December 2018.
