In 2018, distracted driving was a factor in over 15,000 crashes in Colorado. A new statewide campaign wants drivers to focus on the road rather than their phones.

The Colorado Department of Transportation is launching a campaign to discourage distracted driving. The Get Turned On campaign asks drivers to use the "do not disturb" mode on their phones so they will not receive text messages, calls, and notifications while driving.
According to a CDOT survey, 90 percent of drivers reported driving while distracted. The CDOT also says that last year in Colorado 58 people died and over 6,000 were injured in crashes involving distracted drivers.
The campaign is being rolled out in conjunction with the National Safety Council's Distracted Driving Awareness Month effort.
