Transit has priority over cars on King Street in Toronto between Bathurst and Jarvis streets, now and in perpetuity.

"Streetcars are officially king on King St. W., and their reign could expand to other streets," reports David Rider.
The news comes as a result of a final vote by the Toronto City Council, acting on the recommendation a report provided to the city earlier this month.
"After resounding success that saw, for a relatively modest investment, weekday rush-hour streetcar boardings skyrocket from 72,000 to 84,000, and overall people movement into downtown increase while vehicle traffic decreased, city staff are looking at other routes," according to Rider.
Some local business owners showed up the council to oppose the decision, saying the project has hurt business along the transit priority area.
