City Commissioner Chloe Eudaly intends to debut a plan to install several miles of bus-only lanes in the city.

The Portland City Council will soon consider a plan to install bus lanes, according to an article by Rachel Monahan. Portland, like cities all over the United States, is seeing transit ridership go down and congestion increase. To tackle this issue, City Commissioner Chloe Eudaly plans to introduce the "Red Lane Project," which would remove a parking lanes and replace them with a bus-only lane. What the plan will ultimately include is still yet to be seen, but the city is looking at some of the most popular bus corridors. "Such streets include Southeast Division and Foster Road, North and Northeast Killingsworth, and Northeast and Southeast 122nd Avenue, writes Monahan.
Though the plan is not yet public, critics are already worrying about public space currently allotted to private cars being reconfigured for other purposes.
