A new plan to upgrade an existing bus lane in Seattle isn't the first and it probably won't be the last.

Shortly after revealing new red paint for bus lanes on Westlake Avenue, 5th Avenue, and Pike Street, the Seattle Department of Transportation is planning to upgrade a bus lane on Olive Way between 4th and 8th avenue, according to an article by Doug Trumm.
"In facilitating the bus-only lanes, SDOT is making several changes to the existing configuration and restrictions on Olive Way," reports trumm. "The existing bus lanes only have restrictions during the morning (6AM to 9AM) and afternoon (3PM to 7PM) peak hours. This will become a permanent all-day restriction with red paint markings."
Astute observers will recall that the Olive Way bus lane, as it exists today, was the scene of a viral urbanism moment on social media, when a woman took to the street this summer to wave cars out of the bus lane.
