A new congressional caucus has been formed under the assumption that federal transportation policy is regressive and discriminatory.

Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-Mass.) recently announced a new Congressional caucus to focus on public transit, and advocate for reform of federal transportation funding, reports WBZNewRadio.
Pressley is co-creating the caucus with Rep. Mark Takano (D-Calif.) and Rep. Jesus Garcia (D-Ill.), according to article.
According to a soundbite from Pressley, quoted in the article, the system of transportation funding and planning is "antiquated and contributing to the inequities and disparities when it comes to access to affordable, reliable, and rapid transit."
The WBZ report wasn't the first hint of the new transit caucus. Garcia and Pressly hinted at the imminent formation of a caucus in a briefing with Transportation for America in September.
