Safety driver not included.

"The California Department of Motor Vehicles approved revised regulations that will allow the commercial use of light-duty autonomous delivery vehicles on public roads, even without a safety driver," reports Jason Plautz.
"The rule only applies to vehicles weighing less than 10,001 pounds, such as passenger cars, mid-size pickup trucks and cargo vans," according to Plautz.
While Plautz speculates that companies are sure to launch autonomous delivery services in California, no specific timeline is mentioned. Autonomous vehicles are already operating commercial services in Texas and Arizona. In California, small delivery robots are already working on sidewalks.
