Total sales in master-planned communities around the United States grew 8.8 percent over sales in 2018, according to the Top-Selling Master Planning Communities of 2019 report released recently by RCLCO.

The list of top selling master-planned communities is mostly the same as the mid-year report, with The Villages in The Villages, Florida and Lakewood Ranch in Sarasota, Florida topping the list. Summerlin, in Las Vegas and Cook County, Nevada, rose from fourth to third on the list on the back nine of the year. "Texas, Florida, and California account for 62% of total sales among the 50 top-selling communities, with the share of total sales in other states increasing from 34% to 38% since 2018," according to the post promoting the report on RCLCO's website.

The 2019 report also includes the top-selling master-planned communities of the decade. The report also predicts positive trends for the master-planned communities market in the near future.

Reporting for the San Diego Union Tribune, Philip Molnar picked up news of Otay Ranch in Chula Vista making the list at number eight position. As evidence of that communities central role in the housing market of the San Diego region, Molnar offers this insight: "As of third quarter 2019, there were around 2,400 newly built homes sold in San Diego County, meaning Otay Ranch’s sales will likely end up making up close to a third of all new home sales in the region by the end of the year, according to data from the Real Estate Research Council of Southern California."
