Transit, Bikeshare Integration Planned in Austin

Under a plan scheduled for implementation later this year, a transit pass will mean access to the city's bikeshare system.

"By late fall, public transit and bike-share users may be able to access both services with the purchase of a local bus day pass," reports Ryan Thornton from Austin.

"Under a proposed partnership with the city, the Capital Metropolitan Transportation Authority is looking to expand upon the symbiosis between its transit system and the city’s B-cycle bike-share program by fully incorporating the bike-share into its transit network," adds Thornton.

The integration of the two systems is intended to offer new ways to access transit in underserved corners of the city, according to a city official cited in the article.

More details about how the integration would work for users is included in the source article. B-cycle will become MetroBike, for instance.
