Train rail construction work is underway in Washington D.C. with a planned project completion date on Labor Day.

In Washington D.C., Metro is shutting down sections of the Yellow Line between L’Enfant Plaza and Pentagon for 24-hour work on train rails while ridership is down by about 90%. The Transit Authority will offer increased shuttle bus service to make up for the lack of train service, but riders should expect trips to take longer than usual.
Jordan Pascale provides a timeline of work zones and closures on Green, Yellow, and Red lines stretching from early June to the first of August. "With nearly 550 construction workers on site, Metro says that work is currently on schedule to be done by Labor Day," reports Pascale. In addition to work on the rails, Metro will work to rebuild platforms, hoping to complete the project in 2022.
