Tom Sanchez, professor of Urban Affairs and Planning at Virginia Tech, this week published his annual citation data for urban planning faculty in the United States and Canada.
According to Sanchez, an increasing share of planning faculty—more than 70 percent now—are tracking their citations tracked by Google Scholar Citation profiles.
Leading the number of citations is Michael Storper at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), a controversial author and researcher who has provoked direct criticism on multiple occasions on Planetizen.
In terms of total citations by faculty, New York University leads the way despite a small planning faculty, followed by UCLA and the University of California, Berkeley.
For past aggregation of planning faculty info provided by Prof. Sanchez, see also a demographic breakdown of planning faculty published in 2013, a list of all the planning faculty on Twitter published in 2019, and the Google Scholar citation data for 2020 and 2019.
