A 1,258-acre development is beginning construction near Fulshear, one of Houston's fastest-growing suburbs.
A Houston developer is planning to build thousands of new homes in a master-planned community called Cross Creek West, reports Marissa Luck in the Houston Chronicle. According to plans revealed by Johnson Development last week, the 1,258-acre neighborhood just outside of Fulshear, will eventually include 3,000 homes, 5 acres of commercial space, and a recreation center and pool. The developer also set aside 15 acres for a new elementary school to serve incoming residents. Fulshear is one of Houston's fastest-growing suburbs, with a population that grew from just over 1,100 residents in 2010 to 16,856 in 2020.
Johnson Development, which also built nearby Cross Creek Ranch, says Cross Creek West will "mirror the same respect for nature" and provide "ample outdoor recreational areas," while "development practices will focus on sustainability" despite the automobile-dependent nature of the area.
