The Clark County Commission wants more Teslas in more tunnels.

The Clark County Commission voted 6-1 to greatly expand the existing Las Vegas Convention Center Loop (LVCC), adding eight new stations and 25 extra miles of tunnel, including a connection to the proposed high-speed rail system, which has been gaining momentum in recent weeks.
“Under the proposal, The Boring Company, which is constructing the Vegas Loop, said there will be 25 new extensions that would connect new and previously approved stations,” according to an article published by News 3 on March 3. The LVCC has been a showcase for Elon Musk’s vision for the future of transportation, featuring neon lighting in tunnels navigated by Teslas, connecting the three halls of the Las Vegas Convention Center and Resorts World Las Vegas. Work is already underway to connect the loop to the Encore at Wynn Las Vegas.
“Additions are primarily on the south, east and west sides of the Resort Corridor, including near Allegiant Stadium, the UNLV campus, Town Square, and the intersection of Las Vegas Boulevard and Blue Diamond Road, which is where a proposed high-speed rail station would be built.”
The Clark County Commission is doubling down on the Boring Company despite complications during construction, an underwhelming public reception, and poor performance of the loop so far. According to News 3, the sole dissenting vote on the commission, Marylin Kirkpatrick, opposed the project out of concern that the project “would not accommodate people working in the Resort Corridor in the long term.”
