More cities are incentivizing the use of e-bikes for short trips by offering rebates to residents.

Raleigh, North Carolina is joining the list of cities offering a rebate to residents who purchase electric bikes in an effort to encourage residents to make more trips by modes other than cars, reports Bradley George for WUNC.
According to George, “Residents can apply for $500 vouchers which could be used for the purchase of new e-bike.” People making 80 percent or lower of AMI are eligible for a $1,500 voucher.
The pilot program is funded by a federal grant, and city staff is developing a long-term program to be funded by county money. E-bike rebates are becoming a popular tool for cities and states to promote biking as an accessible transportation mode.
