A former Super 8 Motel in Naples, Florida could be converted into 110 housing units, including 33 affordable apartments.

According to an article by Aisling Swift in Gulf Shore Business, “Collier County Planning Commission on Sept. 20 unanimously recommended a small-scale amendment to the county growth-management plan to allow 110 affordable housing units on 5 acres at 3880 Tollgate Blvd. in a multifamily development instead of a commercial use.” Now, the adaptive reuse proposal needs approval from the County Board and the state.

The project is largely supported by Moorings Park, a nearby continuing-care retirement community that plans to house employees in the converted motel. K2 Developers, a firm that specializes in workforce housing in converted motels and hotels, would spearhead the renovation, converting the current 104 units to 110 250-square-foot units with kitchenettes.
