Roundabouts, commonly used in other countries, are starting to catch on in U.S. cities. They can improve traffic flow and bring efficiency benefits.

Las Vegas is introducing new “mini-roundabots” to calm traffic and improve road safety.
According to a KSNV article, the first mini roundabout in the city is located at Cimarron and El Parque. The project is part of the city’s Vision Zero initiative to eliminate traffic deaths.
The city’s website explains that “Mini-roundabouts are a special subset of roundabouts with an inscribed diameter of less than 90 feet that are designed to fit in a constrained site. The smaller diameter is facilitated by a fully traversable central island to accommodate large vehicles.” The city notes that “Because roundabouts reduce vehicle stops and delays, they also reduce vehicle emissions, noise, and fuel consumption.”
