Not that many years ago, developers routinely bulldozed mature trees, flattened natural contours and diverted or drained water features and demolished old homes, creating blank spaces from which monotonous subdivisions rose. A few still do.The current generation of developers, home builders, municipal politicians and their staff planners are more inclined to save natural features
