Seattle transit planners are working on a light rail extensions to West Seattle and Ballard, and trying to figure out which development alternatives are worth the cost.

"Expanding light rail to West Seattle, Ballard and elsewhere could get more expensive — a lot more expensive," reports Gil Aegerter.
That news revealed by documents released by Sound Transit, which details a summer's worth of community engagement efforts on both the West Seattle and Ballard projects.
There are eight proposals under consideration for the expanded rail lines, according to Aegerter. The range of cost increases, depending on which option proceeds, varies from $100 million to $1.2 billion.
