One of San Antonio's most appealing and popular neighborhoods has been rezoned to allow for more urban infill developments.

"[Downtown San Antonio's] landmark development project has plenty of room to grow after the city voted Tuesday to rezone several acres around the Pearl to allow for high-density development," reports Richard Webner.
In effect, the rezoning creates an "infill development zone," which "allows for a variety of commercial and residential uses like high-rise offices, apartment buildings, bars and hotels" in 7.9 acres of the neighborhood.
The rezoning came at the behest of Silver Ventures, "the development firm that billionaire Christopher 'Kit' Goldsbury formed to build the Pearl," according to Weber. Silver Ventures has been working to expand the Pearl for over a decade—a history described in more detail in the source article.
