Sometimes the appearance of success in a city masks problems bubbling right below the surface. Smart City investigates.
Smart City radio show Carol Coletta talks with Richard Carson and Radhika Fox about the other side of successful cities, on the next Smart City. Richard Carson is an urban theorist, writer and practicing planner with over 25 years experience in the Pacific Northwest states of Oregon and Washington. He was the director of METRO (the Portland area's regional government with jurisdiction more than a million people) and acting city manager/director of Community Development for Oregon City. He is a member of the Mayor's Growth Management Committee for Portland, Oregon. Radhika K. Fox is a Senior Program Associate at PolicyLink where she leads initiatives on equitable development and regional equity. Analyzing and synthesizing successful community building strategies in place around the country, she contributes to the Equitable Development Toolkit and develops training.
