Orange County Land Leases Increase by 389 percent

Condominium residents of The Gables face a nearly quadruple increase in ground-lease payments.

A dramatic fair market value adjustment increases ground leases by 389 percent in The Gables community in Orange County. Some homeowners feel they might lose their homes and are boycotting the increase but the landlord says that residents have been living at below-market rates. Orange County land value has increased 15.6 percent in the last 10 years.
