A new ordinance in Contra Costa, CA will restrict full-service grocery stores in super-stores.

Supporters of the ordinance argued that retail giants often drive traditional grocery stores and small retailers out of business. Labor leaders added that it is particularly tough because Wal-Mart often pays less than union firms... 'This is clearly aimed at Wal-Mart -- make no mistake,' she said during the hearing. The firm is fighting a similar regulation in Tucson."
