Volvo AB is preparing to test its new autonomous full-sized buses, each with a capacity of almost 80 passengers, in Singapore. Trial of the electric vehicles will start on the Nanyang Technological University campus and later move to public streets.

Singapore has been active in pursuing self-driving vehicle technology, reports Kyunghee Park. "The country has built a mini town for the testing of driverless vehicles, complete with intersections, traffic lights, bus stops and pedestrian crossings."

Singapore says it wants to have the autonomous buses operating on residential routes during off-peak times in three residentials areas by 2022.
