The LEED for Cities and Communities grant program will support the first 15 cities to seek certification under LEED v4.1
"A $500,000 grant from Bank of America will help the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) provide technical and financial assistance to 15 U.S. cities and communities seeking LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) certification," reports Jason Plautz.
The 15 cities and counties are participating in the 2019 LEED for Cities and Communities grant program, and the first cities "to seek certification under LEED v4.1, the latest edition of its green building program," according to Plautz. "LEED v4.1 updates USGBC's standards, including special attention to residential projects meant to make it easier for communities to make the housing market more sustainable."
Plautz also lists the 15 cities and counties participating in this year's grant program:
- Albuquerque, New Mexico
- Baltimore, Maryland
- Birmingham, Alabama
- Bloomington, Indiana
- Cincinnati, Ohio
- Greensboro, North Carolina
- Las Vegas, Nevada
- Miami, Florida
- Orange County, New York
- Orlando, Florida
- Pueblo County, Colorado
- Rancho Cucamonga, California
- Royal Oak, Michigan
- Santa Fe, New Mexico
- Shaker Heights, Ohio
