U.S. Department of Transportation Launches Two New University Transportation Centers

The University of South Florida and Washington State University were chosen as the locations for new University Transportation Centers (UTCs) over 51 competitors. There are now UTCs at 37 universities.

"The U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) announced Wednesday that it will open two new University Transportation Centers (UTCs), one at the University of South Florida (USF) and one at Washington State University (WSU)," reports Jason Plautz.

"Each UTC will receive $7.5 million in grant funding for transportation research and education," adds Plautz.

The UTC at USF will be called the National Institute for Congestion Reduction. The UTC at WSU will be called the Congestion research and Education: Advancing Transportation Efficiency."
