Cincinnati’s first ring suburbs have gone through a pattern of boom and bust, but civic boosters are focusing on the opportunities of the present day.

The back-to-cities trend, whether it ever existed or didn’t, is slowing and even ending in many large cities. Population growth in the United States seems to have returned to the suburbs, leaving leaves inner suburbs in an interesting position. While people once fled cities for suburbs near the city, eventually people began moving to yet more distant suburbs.
In the Cincinnati region, "First ring suburbs are also now seeing an upswing in interest and development, though their situations are often different than their urban neighbors,” Michael Monks writes for WVXU.
Silverton Village Manager Tom Carroll recently wrote a new research-based paper about growth strategies for inner ring suburbs in the region, and examples of development investment in suburbs in the Cincinnati region abound.
