The QLine streetcar joins the fare payment system of DDOT and SMART buses in the Motor City.

"Detroit's streetcar line will join a unified payment system with DDOT and SMART bus systems beginning Oct. 1," reports Eric D. Lawrence.
"The change means QLINE riders can pay $2 for a four-hour pass and have the ability to then transfer without fees or additional charges onto buses run by either of metro Detroit's two bus systems, the Detroit Department of Transportation or the Suburban Mobility Authority for Regional Transportation. The reverse — bus to streetcar — will also be true for bus riders."
The unified fare payment does increase the fares for QLine riders, but the ability to transfer for free between systems could also reduce the cost of a transit commute for many riders.
