Chicago's design competition for bridge work along its shoreline turns out a diversity of designs and designers.
Several high-profile architects have submitted plans to the City of Chicago's design competition for five pedestrian bridges along Lake Michigan's shoreline. The competition tries to address "the perennial problem of pedestrian access to the lakefront, particularly on the south shoreline....City officials have said they expect to parcel out the work among different teams rather than awarding all five bridges to a single winner." All the entries will be on display sometime this summer at Chicago Architecture Foundation.
