A study finds that increasingly powerful NGO's are 'moving beyond a culture of criticism to one of engagement with business and other partners in a search for solutions.'
SustainAbility, a British consultancy company, has published a study that observes the shift in how NGO's operate. The study includes case studies in which NGO cooperation with business has had a more symbiotic relationship. "The rewards are tempting, both for NGOs to inculcate their human values in the business world, and companies looking to grow their economic value." While a shift to working collaboratively may present a model for getting things done, there are critics who point out that "NGOs that have earned international credibility as watchdogs could be in danger of becoming lapdogs."
