Staples Center Called A Success

Officials are calling the Staples Center in Los Angeles a 'triumph,' given that cities across the country have built sports arenas that have 'wound up costing taxpayers money.'

Stadium boosters are touting that the millions of dollars in loans and grants used to develop the Staples Center "appears to be paying off for the city." The city controller cites the success of the four year sports arena as an example of a large project done right--one that can be a potent economic engine, generate new revenues for the city, put people to work and revitalize neighborhoods. City officials are using the news as an occasion to push for bringing professional football to the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.
