In anticipation of future needs, Baby Boomers are modifying their homes to fit universal design standards.
"As millions of Baby Boomers turn 50 or older, some are focusing on modifying their homes for future physical needs." In response to this trend, the National Association of Home Builders is offering a Certified Aging in Place training program. "The program is aimed at helping contractors assess the housing needs of seniors....The demand by Baby Boomers for one-floor living space has prompted some homebuilders to add ranch floor plans into their subdivisions....This trend toward future planning also has some Baby Boomers preparing for one or both parents to move in."
