Matt Novak reports on the latest development in the evolving Cybertruck saga.
In case you missed it, wearing his Tesla hat (as opposed to his SpaceX hat or his Boring Co. hat), Elon Musk in November debuted a new Cybertruck, touting the vehicle as the future of trucks. "When the truck initially drove onto the stage, many in the crowd clearly couldn't believe that this was actually the vehicle they'd come to see. The Cybertruck looks like a large metal trapezoid on wheels, more like an art piece than a truck," according to an article from November by Peter Valdes-Dapena.
The debut gained an aspect of viral notoriety when Musk touted the truck's toughness with a stunt that immediately backfired when the windows of the truck were easily broken.
Musk claims that people are lining up to preorder the vehicle, 200,000 in all, and it was probably with that confidence-boosting figure that Musk took the Cybertruck out for a spin to Nobu in Malibu over the weekend. As documented widely online, Musk can be seen driving over a temporary traffic pylon. Observers on social media noticed that the pylon was roughly the size of a small child.
If that public debut in Malibu is any indication, the Cybertruck will fit right in with the current trends in automobile size, supplementing the threats to public health on the streets of the United States.
